What is Moissanite and why should I wear it?

Moissanite was first discovered in Arizona in 1893 as naturally occurring crystals in a meteorite crater.  In the early 1900s, Nobel Prize-winning scientist Dr. Henri Moissan identified them gemstone and Silicon Carbide and tried to reproduce the crystals without success. The natural form of this crystal is rarer than diamonds.

Almost a century later, Moissanite found its way to the jewelry industry when in 1998 Charles and Colvard received a patent to produce and market this material. This patent expired in 2015 and now is produced and distributed from multiple manufacturers throughout the world.

Today these beautiful and durable gemstones are making heads turn as an environmentally, socially responsible choice in their jewelry wardrobe.
